Kidside

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

This policy explains what the Kidside app (iPhone, bundle ID app.kidside) and this website collect, why, where it is kept, who can see it, and how to delete it. Kidside is run by Kevin Beck ("Kidside", "we", "us"). Questions go to support@kidsideapp.com.

The short version.

  • We collect what the app needs to work, and nothing else. Everything we collect is tied to your account, and none of it is used to track you.
  • No ads, no analytics, no crash-reporting tools, no advertising ID. We don't sell your data.
  • Your data is stored with Supabase, our hosting provider.
  • What you put in a family is shared with the other parent in that family. Calendar items are also shared with caregivers you add.
  • Text in a photo is read on your phone. The photo itself is uploaded when you attach it, so your co-parent can see it.
  • You can delete your account. Your sign-in and personal details go. The shared family record stays, because it belongs to your co-parent too.

1. Who Kidside is for

Kidside is for parents, step-parents and other adults 18 and over. Children do not get accounts. Parents add information about their children, as described in section 9.

2. What we collect, and why

We use everything below for one purpose only: to make the app work. We don't use it for analytics, personalization or advertising. All of it is linked to your account. None of it is used to track you across other apps or websites.

WhatDetails
NamesThe display name you choose, a history of past display names, and the names of the children (and pets, if you add them) in your family.
Email addressThe email you sign up with. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in, we get the email they share with us (Apple may give us a private relay address).
Health informationKidside doesn't ask for health information. But if you log an expense as Medical (a pharmacy, dentist, pediatrician or urgent care visit, for example) and attach it to a child, that is medical information about your child, and we treat it that way.
Payment infoThe Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.Me usernames you add so your co-parent knows where to send money. If you pay by card, you enter the card on Stripe's own checkout page. Stripe holds the card details. We never see or store your card number.
Other financial infoExpenses (merchant, amount, date), split rules, payments between parents, and the running balance of who owes whom.
PhotosPictures of receipts and parenting orders. The text is read on your phone. The image is uploaded to private storage so your co-parent can see it.
MessagesYour message threads with your co-parent and the text of each message.
Other things you addCalendar events and the locations you type into them, expense notes, swap and change requests, reasons given in a dispute, household notices, and the court-record exports you create.
User IDAn internal account ID that ties your records to you.

Records the app keeps for you

Kidside keeps a family change history (who changed what in the family, and when) and a log of security events on your account, such as sign-ins and password changes. These are part of the record you and your co-parent rely on. They are not used to study how you use the app.

Technical information

Like any app that connects to the internet, the servers Kidside talks to receive your IP address and basic device and connection information. Our hosting provider may keep this in logs. We use it only to run, secure and troubleshoot the service.

If you test through TestFlight

If you use the beta through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share with us the information TestFlight collects, such as your tester email or name, crash reports, device details and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send. That is covered by Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy policy.

If you email us

The Help screen in the app does not send anything to us. If you email support@kidsideapp.com, we get what you send and use it to answer you.

3. What happens on your phone

4. What we don't collect

5. Where your data is stored

Your account, your family's data and uploaded photos are stored with Supabase, which runs Kidside's database, sign-in and file storage. Photos are kept in a private storage area and opened with short-lived links. Data travels between the app and Supabase over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Rules inside the database check which family you belong to before showing you anything.

6. Who can see your information

Your co-parent

Kidside exists to share with the other parent in your family. Both parents can see the family's calendar, events, requests and decisions, messages, expenses and receipt photos, payments, payment usernames, and the family's change history. Each parent's display name and sign-up email are visible to the other members of the family.

Caregivers you add

A parent can invite a caregiver (for example a grandparent, sitter or step-parent). The other parent is always told. Caregivers can see the children's names and birthdays, the custody schedule, shared events (including locations and notes), their own care assignments, and who is in the household. Caregivers cannot see your expenses, your messages with your co-parent, or your payment details.

Calendar feed links

If you tap Subscribe to put the schedule in Google or Apple Calendar, Kidside creates a private link that is hard to guess. Anyone who has that link can read the schedule in it, including whose day it is, the co-parent's display name, and event titles, times, locations and notes. Only share it with people you trust.

Exports you make

When you export records (PDF or CSV) or the calendar, the file goes wherever you send it, for example to your attorney. After that it is out of Kidside's hands.

Companies that help run Kidside

These are the only outside companies the app sends your data to. Each gets only what it needs:

Google's ML Kit, which reads text from photos, runs on your phone and is not on this list because it sends nothing.

Apps you open from Kidside

Some buttons hand you off to another app or website: paying through Venmo, Cash App or PayPal opens their app or site with the username and amount filled in, and tapping an event location opens Google Maps. Kidside has no connection to your accounts with them. Their privacy policies apply once you are there.

Legal reasons

We may share information if the law requires it, for example a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect someone's safety. Kidside is often used in custody matters, so we will only release your family's records when legally required, and where the law lets us, we will tell you first.

Never for sale

We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

7. The permanent record

Kidside is built so co-parents can trust the record. Messages, schedule history, swap and change requests, events and their edits, expenses, payments, approvals, caregiver changes and display-name history can't be edited or deleted by either parent. When something changes, it is added as a new entry. These records belong to the family, not to one parent.

8. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account information while your account is open, and we keep a family's shared record for as long as that family exists in Kidside.

Deleting your account

You can delete your Kidside account from the app. If you can't find the option in the version you have, email support@kidsideapp.com from the email on your account with the subject "Delete my Kidside account" and we will do it for you.

What is deleted: your sign-in, your profile details and your email address. The account can't be used again.

What is kept: the shared co-parenting record. That is the calendar and custody schedule, messages, expenses, receipts and attached photos, approvals, and the history of every change. We do not delete these records. They stay available to your co-parent, and anything you added is shown as coming from a former member. We keep them because they may be needed later for court or other legal proceedings. Neither parent can edit or delete these records, before or after an account is deleted.

If you want a copy first, export your records from the Records tab before you delete your account.

Data on your phone

Deleting the Kidside app removes what the app kept on that phone.

9. Children's information

Kidside is for adults. We do not let children create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18. Parents add information about their own children: names, birthdays, and whatever they choose to write in events, notes, messages and expenses (for example a doctor's visit logged as a Medical expense). That information is shared only inside the family as described in section 6. If you think a child has created a Kidside account, email us and we will close it.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have extra rights, such as the right to ask what we hold about you or to object to how we use it. Email support@kidsideapp.com and we will answer within the time the law requires.

11. Security

Your sign-in session and passcode are kept in your phone's secure storage. Invite codes are stored in scrambled (hashed) form. Uploaded photos are kept in private storage and opened with short-lived links. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think someone else has got into your account, change your password and email us.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change matters, for example if we start collecting something new, we will also let you know in the app.
