Common questions
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, open Help and tap "Email me a reset link". We email a reset link to the address on the account. It expires in an hour. A password is never changed without that email.
How do I change a password I still know?
Settings, then Account, then Change password. Kidside asks for your current password before saving the new one, then signs out your other devices.
I sign in with Apple or Google. Do I have a password?
No. Change password won't ask for a password you never set. If you want one, a reset link can add a password to the email on your account.
I didn't get the confirmation email
Your account isn't finished until you open the confirmation email and tap the link. Check spam and promotions. If it isn't there, resend it from Help, then check spam again, because the second one usually lands in the same place.
How do invites work?
Invites are one-time. A parent sends a co-parent invite from Settings, then Co-parent, or a caregiver invite (grandparent, sitter) from Settings, then Family access. You get a link and a 6-digit backup code, shown once. Kidside doesn't keep a list of pending invites, so if the code is lost, the sender creates a new one. To accept, open the link, or sign in and paste the code on Join a family.
I changed the schedule but it isn't showing
A custody change does not apply until the other parent approves it. Pending requests show as an amber card at the top of Calendar, where they can be approved, declined or withdrawn. Silence is not approval.
How do I propose a custody change?
Calendar, then Custody schedule, then Edit for a pattern change. Day-by-day changes are sent from the calendar too. Either way it waits on the amber card until your co-parent approves it. Only a parent can propose a custody change. Caregivers can't.
What can a grandparent or sitter see?
Both parents always have full access. Grandparents, sitters and step-parents see the calendar only. They can't see your expenses, your messages with your co-parent, or your payment details. Either parent can add a caregiver, and the other parent is always told.
What is Side Check?
Side Check counts days on the custody schedule in Kidside (who has the kids on a date, or how many nights fall between two dates), or quotes a sentence from parenting-order text stored on your phone. It does not write legal answers.
Can I edit or delete a message or an expense?
No. Messages, schedule history, expenses and payments are append-only for both parents. Timestamps come from the server, not a phone. If something was wrong, add a correction.
How do I get my records out?
The Records tab exports your message history, expense ledger and payment record as PDF or CSV, and the calendar as PDF or a calendar file. Each export is stamped with when it was made.
How do I put the schedule in Google or Apple Calendar?
In Calendar, tap Subscribe and copy the private feed link into Google or Apple Calendar. It stays up to date on its own. Anyone with the link can read the schedule, so share it carefully.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the app. If you can't find the option in your version, email support@kidsideapp.com from the address on your account with the subject "Delete my Kidside account".
Deleting your account removes your sign-in, your profile details and your email address. The shared co-parenting record is kept: the calendar and custody schedule, messages, expenses, receipts and attached photos, approvals, and change history. It stays available to your co-parent and shows your entries as from a former member, because it may be needed later for court or other legal proceedings. Neither parent can edit or delete it. Export your records from the Records tab first if you want a copy. More in the Privacy Policy (section 8).
